Ilya Samsonov will get the start against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, but the team won't see the return of its many injured players until after the weekend, coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters on Friday.
Mitch Marner is expected to take part in his practice on Tuesday, Keefe said. If he continues to progress on schedule, he could return to action as soon as Wednesday against Tampa.
The coach added injured defenceman Morgan Rielly was "progressing" after "turning a corner," and could return to the ice after Saturday's game. Keefe added that the injuries to defencemen Timothy Liljegren and Joel Edmundson wouldn't keep them out for the remainder of the season.
