The waiver wire continues to be a busy place as NHL teams prepare for the start of the regular season last week.
After all players placed on waivers Wednesday cleared on Thursday, a new group of 30 formed for teams to examine over the next 24 hours.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators were the two Canadian teams to place players on waivers on Thursday.
The Leafs placed eight players on waivers, including Steven Lorentz, Philippe Myers and Michael Pezzetta.
The Senators placed goalie Leevi Meriläinen on waivers.
The 2020 third-round pick has played 34 career games for Ottawa, including 20 last season.
Linus Ullmark and Samuel Ersson are Ottawa's other goalies.
Other familiar names now on the waiver wire include Justin Kirkland (Minnesota Wild), Kyle Burroughs (Dallas Stars) and goalie Matt Murray (Nashville Predators)
