The Toronto Maple Leafs have sent defenceman Dakota Mermis to the Marlies of the AHL for conditioning.
The 30-year-old suffered a fractured jaw during the pre-season and has not played since Sept. 24. He has been on long-term injured reserve since.
Mermis was expected to battle for a depth position with the Leafs, having signed during the off-season from Minnesota, where he played 47 games last season.
