The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Cade Webber to a two-year, entry-level contract, the club announced Thursday.
The contract begins immediately and carries an average annual value of $875,000.
Webber, 23, recently finished his fourth season with Boston University in the NCAA. He recorded six assists over 38 games this season and 16 points total (one goal and 15 assists) over 123 career games with the team.
Originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes (99th overall) in 2019, Webber was acquired by the Maple Leafs in a trade back on March 7. Toronto gave up a 2026 sixth-round pick in exchange.
According to Sportsnet's Luke Fox, Webber is already travelling with the team.
