The Toronto Maple Leafs are dipping their feet into the college free agent market.
The team signed Northeastern University defenceman Vincent Borgesi to a two-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2026-27 season. Borgesi will report to the AHL Marlies for the remainder of this season on an amateur tryout.
Borgesi has spent all four of his NCAA years with Northeastern and was named captain at the start of the 2025-26 season. Through 36 games this season, the 22-year-old has five goals and 20 points.
Prior to playing college hockey, he spent two years with the USHL's Tri-City Storm.
