Nick Blankenburg earned himself a contract.
The defenceman inked a one-year, $1.4-million deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, the club announced on Sunday.
Blankenburg joined the Maple Leafs on a professional tryout after a career-best season where he posted eight goals and 16 assists with the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche.
The 28-year-old also suited up in five playoff contests with Colorado, logging a goal while averaging 9:24 minutes of ice time.
In 178 career games, Blankenburg totalled 18 goals and 40 assists.
Blankenburg joins a suddenly-deep Maple Leafs blue line that also features fellow righty Troy Stecher and off-season addition Emil Andrae as third-pairing options.
