The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Dmitry Ovchinnikov to a three-year, entry-level contract Friday morning.

The 19-year-old will join the Leafs immediately after the approval of his Canadian work permit. The Leafs selected Ovchinnikov in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Ovchinnikov split his time between the KHL and MHL, Russia’s major junior hockey league, this season. In the MHL, he gathered 13 goals and 16 assists in 22 games for Sibirskie Snaipery Novosibirsk. Ovchinnikov also played 17 games in the KHL for Sibir Novosibirsk in 2021-22, notching one goal and two assists.
