Toronto Maple Leafs Wayne Simmonds and Kyle Clifford were fined Friday for their actions in a game Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Simmonds was fined the maximum allowable $2,250 for charging Tampa's Mikhail Sergachev in Thursday's game. The incident occurred at 15:21 of the third period; Simmonds was not penalized on the play, but did face the wrath of Pat Maroon shortly thereafter when the two fought.
Clifford was fined the maximum allowable $2,500 for high-sticking Tampa's Corey Perry. The incident occurred at 8:10 of the third period, and Clifford was assessed a match penalty.
The injured-riddled Leafs were blown out by the Lightning, 8-1. Toronto is back in action Saturday, when the Leafs continue their South Florida road trip with a visit to the red-hot Florida Panthers.
