Anthony Stolarz will return to Toronto with the Maple Leafs after being hospitalized Saturday night.
Stolarz was scheduled to start against the Senators in Ottawa but he was injured when a shot from William Nylander struck him in the throat during warm-ups.
The Maple Leafs said that Stolarz went to the hospital for precautionary imaging and confirmed after the game that he had been released and cleared to fly home with the team. His status for the team's next game on Tuesday in Boston is unclear.
Joseph Woll started in place of Stolarz and made 38 saves in a 5-2 loss. It was his fifth start in the last six Maple Leafs games.
Stolarz has fallen into the back-up role recently with Woll getting hot. He last started on March 15 in a win over the Minnesota Wild.
The 32-year-old missed 33 games earlier this season with an upper-body injury.
