The Toronto Maple Leafs say defenceman Rasmus Sandin has a fracture in his foot and he will be re-evaluated in mid-March.

Sandin, 20, suffered the injury on Feb. 15 when he blocked a shot in the season opener with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL.

The 29th overall pick in 2018, Sandin suited up in just one game for the Maple Leafs this season before being sent to the Marlies ahead of the team's first game of the 2020-21 season.

In 2019-20, Sandin recorded eight points in 28 games with the Leafs and added 15 in 21 appearances with the Marlies.
