The New York Islanders have signed goaltender Marcus Högberg to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The former Ottawa Senators netminder returns to North America after spending the past three seasons with Linkoping HC of the Swedish Hockey League.
Högberg was drafted in the third round, 78th overall, by the Senators in 2013.
He made his NHL debut during the 2018-19 season and played three years in Ottawa registering a 9-17-9 record, 3.39 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 42 games.
The 29-year-old from Orebro, Sweden, posted a 2.51 GAA and .914 save percentage over 40 games with Linkoping this year.
