The Islanders are re-upping with one of their talented middle-six forwards this off-season.
The New York Islanders announced on Tuesday a two-year, $7.25-million contract with Swedish right-winger Simon Holmstrom.
The deal is worth $3.625 million in average annual value.
The 24-year-old has played 200 games total with the Islanders, logging 79 points across three seasons. Holmstrom recorded a career-high last season with 45 points (20 goals and 25 assists) in 75 regular-season games with the team.
Internationally, Holmstrom has represented Sweden on the 2018 Under-18 World Junior team. There, he put up six points (three goals, three assists) in seven games and took home a gold medal.
The New York Islanders selected Simon Holmstrom 23rd overall in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
