Montreal's got a new No. 76 in town.
Newly acquired Canadiens forward Zack Bolduc will wear the number previously made famous by fan favourite P.K. Subban.
Bolduc was traded to Montreal on Tuesday from St. Louis for blue-liner Logan Mailloux.
He becomes just the third member of the storied franchise to don the No. 76, joining Jozef Balej (2004) and Subban.
Subban, who played for the Habs from 2010 to 2016, was the last to wear the number.
The 22-year-old Bolduc, who hails from Trois-Rivières, Que., grew up a Canadiens fan and was filled with mixed emotions when he found out about the trade.
"When he [Doug Armstrong] said he'd traded me to the Canadiens, I was a bit shocked," the forward said on Tuesday via Zoom. "Super excited, but shocked, because to be honest, it's a childhood dream."
Part of that childhood dream would have included watching Subban, as Bolduc's pro career didn't start until 2019.
