The NHL's department of player safety has fined New York Islanders centre Mat Barzal $2,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Islanders' 4-2 loss to Toronto on Sunday night.

Though Player Safety did not specify the event, it is likely for an incident involving Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Mitch Marner, as Barzal grabbed onto Marner's arm from the bench as Marner was standing close during play.

When asked about the grab post-game, Marner told reporters it was "A pretty funny moment - he’s a good friend of mine and he’s a competitor out there. It’s fun to watch, fun to play against him."
