The NHL has postponed Tuesday’s scheduled game between the New Jersey Devils and the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.
The Devils currently have two players — Christian Jaros and P.K. Subban — in COVID-19 protocol. Nico Hischier, Ryan Graves and Jesper Boqvist were in protocol and returned to practice Monday.
Pittsburgh is still slated to host the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
New Jersey will not play again until after the Christmas break. The NHL had already shut down all games requiring cross-border travel including the Devils’ home game against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
More than 40 games this season have been postponed for reasons related to the COVID-19 virus. Games that featured the Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames and Detroit Red Wings — some of the clubs which have been hit hardest by the virus — had already been postponed heading into the NHL’s Christmas break.
