An exciting restricted free-agent class could lead to some offer-sheet drama across the NHL this off-season.
First, though, teams must choose whether to extend qualifying offers to players by 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT on Monday. If a player does not receive a qualifying offer, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Restricted free agents can begin talking with teams on Tuesday and can sign offer sheets as of Wednesday, when free agency opens.
Here's the latest on who's received a qualifying offer and who hasn't:
Received qualifying offer: Spencer Stastney, Colton Dach, Roby Jarventie, Owen Michaels
Did not receive QO: Josh Bloom, Matvey Petrov
Details: Stastney and Dach were each expected to receive qualifying offers after being acquired in trade-deadline deals with the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks, respectively. Stastney scored once in 36 games with the Oilers last season, while Dach had four points (two goals, two assists) in eight regular-season games with Edmonton.
