An exciting restricted free-agent class could lead to some offer-sheet drama across the NHL this off-season.
First, though, teams must choose whether to extend qualifying offers to players. The deadline was 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT on Monday and any player who did not receive a qualifying offer will become an unrestricted free agent.
Restricted free agents can begin talking with teams on Tuesday and can sign offer sheets as of Wednesday, when free agency opens.

Details: Carlsson and Gauthier are two of Anaheim's most important players and are coming off their entry-level contracts. Carlsson had 29 goals and 67 points last season, while Gauthier had 41 goals and 69 points.

Details: As the Blue Jackets face the potential departures of Zach Werenski and Kirill Marchenko, they made sure to take strides toward keeping other young talents in Fantilli and Greaves, who broke out in the net this season before playing for Team Canada at the world championship.
