Dillon Dube does not appear to be part of the Toronto Maple Leafs' near-term plans.
General manager Brad Treliving said Wednesday the team is "not focused on that right now" amid speculation the forward could land in Toronto.
"We'd have to go through a process with everything that happened," Treliving said.
Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy also addressed the speculation on Wednesday and said there were no plans to re-sign Dube, believing he needs a "fresh start."
Dube played all five of his NHL seasons for the Flames.
Dube is one of five players who were acquitted of sexual assault charges stemming from an incident in 2018 when they were members of Canada’s world junior team. The NHL has since suspended the players until Dec. 1, but they are be eligible to sign contracts on Oct. 15.
The NHL's decision came roughly seven weeks after Dube, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote and Alex Formenton were found not guilty by a judge in London, Ont. The Crown told lawyers for the players last month it would not appeal the ruling.
Dube, the 27-year-old from Golden, B.C., last played in the NHL for the Flames during the 2023-24 season, when he recorded three goals and four assists in 43 games.
Across 325 contests — all with the Flames, where he played under Treliving — Dube has 57 goals and 70 assists.
