Isaac Howard and the Edmonton Oilers seem to have avoided the worst-case scenario.
Howard will miss "a couple weeks" after leaving Saturday's game against the New York Islanders following a knee-on-knee collision, head coach Mike Babcock told reporters on Tuesday.
"It's nothing. It's not a big deal," Babcock said.
Meanwhile, defenceman Jake Walman will draw back into the lineup Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. ABT) in place of Ty Emberson.
Walman has not played since Oct. 26. Babcock said the reason for the move was to get the Toronto native back into the rotation and did not reflect Emberson's play, per Sportsnet's Mark Spector.
The blue liner has one assist and a minus-seven in nine games this season.
Howard, 22, had one goal and two assists in 12 games entering Saturday's action. He also missed Sunday's game against the New York Rangers.
