Tristan Jarry is getting the opening-night assignment.
The Edmonton Oilers goalie will get the start against the Vancouver Canucks in the regular-season opener on Wednesday (10 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+), head coach Mike Babcock told reporters on Tuesday.
Jarry was acquired by the Oilers during last season from the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 19 games in Edmonton, he had a .857 save percentage and 3.86 goals-against average.
He also appeared in one playoff game for the Oilers. He allowed four goals on eight shots in the loss.
Additionally, forward Jason Dickinson will miss the game as he continues to rehab a foot injury he re-aggravated in training camp.
