Oilers place Mike Smith on injured reserve, recall Stuart Skinner

Mike Smith left the Oilers game after being shaken up during a pile-up in front of the crease.

The Edmonton Oilers announced on Wednesday that starting goaltender Mike Smith has been placed on the injured reserve.

Smith was unable to finish Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks after suffering a lower-body injury.

In Smith's place, the Oilers have recalled Stuart Skinner from the team's AHL-affiliate Bakersfield Condors. Skinner is 2-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .946 save percentage through two games played this season.

The Oilers are back in action on Thursday when they take on the Arizona Coyotes.
