The Edmonton Oilers placed forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the injured reserve on Thursday.

Nugent-Hopkins re-injured his shoulder this past Saturday during a game against the Florida Panthers. The injured shoulder also kept him out of action for six games in January.

The 28-year-old has 37 points — seven goals and 30 assists — in 45 games this season, but was in the midst of a scoring slump with just one goal in his previous 10 contests.

Edmonton also activated forward Kyle Turris from the injured reserve. Turris missed 14 games due to an undisclosed injury. The 32-year-old has one goal and three assists in 22 games this season.

The Oilers (30-21-3) visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night. Watch the game live on Sportsnet ONE or Sportsnet NOW starting at 8:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. MT.
