The Edmonton Oilers are getting a boost to their blue line after losing John Klingberg in free agency.
Defenceman Riley Stillman has joined the Oilers as a free agent on a two-year, two-way contract, the team announced Tuesday.
According to the Oilers, the deal is worth $775,000 in average annual value at the NHL level.
Stillman, 27, spent last season with the Carolina Hurricanes organization, splitting time between the NHL and AHL levels.
In five games in the NHL, he was held without a point and averaged 7:11 of time on ice.
While with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, he had three goals and six assists in 35 games.
The Peterborough, Ont. native was drafted by the Florida Panthers 114th overall in 2016. Since then, he has suited up for 163 career games at the NHL level with four goals and 22 assists.
