The Edmonton Oilers are adding some local depth between the pipes.
Goaltender Matt Tomkins has agreed to a two-year, two-way contract with the team, Edmonton announced Tuesday.
The deal will hold an AAV of $775,000 at the NHL level.
Tomkins, an Edmonton native, spent most of the 2024-25 season with the Syracuse Crunch, holding a 12-10-5 record with a 2.55 goals against average and .907 save percentage with three shutouts.
The 31-year-old also made six NHL appearances with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season, going 3-2-1 with a 3.33 GAA and .892 save percentage.
He represented Canada at the 2022 Olympics, going 2-1-0 in the three appearances with a 1.01 GAA and .963 save percentage.
Tomkins was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round (199th overall) of the 2021 draft.
