The Edmonton Oilers will honour Leon Draisaitl after he became the first German player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career points.
Draisaitl will be recognized in a pregame ceremony on Jan. 10 against the Los Angeles Kings, Sportsnet's Mark Spector reported.
The Oilers and the Kings have met in the first round of each of the past four post-seasons, with Edmonton winning all four series.
The matchup will occur on Hockey Night in Canada.
The 30-year-old reached the milestone in the first period of the team's 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 16, when he and captain Connor McDavid set up Zach Hyman for a power-play goal at the 11:38 mark.
Draisaitl joined Wayne Gretzky, McDavid, Jari Kurri and Mark Messier as the only players in franchise history to reach 1,000 points.
It took him just 824 games to reach the accomplishment.
