The Florida Panthers have agreed to terms with their new backup.
Goaltender Akira Schmid and the Panthers agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract on Friday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Schmid was acquired earlier in the off-season from the Vegas Golden Knights for a third-round pick in 2028.
The 26-year-old posted a 16-10-6 record last season in 34 appearances, including 29 starts.
He will serve as the primary backup to Jacob Markstrom this season after the Panthers completely reshaped their goaltending tandem.
With Schmid now signed, there are no more pending arbitration cases in the NHL.
