Florida Panthers scoring leader Aleksander Barkov left Tuesday’s game against the New York Islanders after a knee-to-knee collision with Scott Mayfield.
Mayfield received a major and a game misconduct for the hit on the Panthers captain early in the second period.
Barkov has nine goals and seven assists in 14 games this season.
The Finnish centre became the franchise’s career leader in goals (190) earlier this season.
The 26-year-old Barkov signed an signed an eight-year, $80 million extension with the Panthers earlier this year.
