Donovan Sebrango is heading south.
The Florida Panthers claimed the defenceman on Wednesday after he was placed on waivers by the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.
The move follows head coach Paul Maurice's announcement on Wednesday that defenceman Dmitry Kulikov will miss the next five months after undergoing surgery.
Sebrango, 23, had played two games for the Senators this season, going without a point while averaging 15:14 in playing time per game. He has no points in four career NHL games, all with the Senators.
Spending the majority of the 2024-25 season with the AHL's Belleville Senators, Sebrango recorded 20 points (eight goals and 12 assists) in 50 games.
The Ottawa native was drafted in the third round, 63rd overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in 2020. He became a member of the Senators as part of the Alex DeBrincat trade on July 9, 2023.
