The Florida Panthers will be without their No. 1 goalie for the next few games.
Jacob Markstrom will be out for 10-14 games after being hit with a puck during Monday's practice, head coach Paul Maurice told reporters on Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, Cooper Black has been recalled from AHL Charlotte.
Markstrom joined the Panthers for his second stint in Florida on June 30 following a trade from New Jersey. In six games this season, the 36-year-old has a .897 save percentage and 2.21 goals-against average for a 3-1 record.
Black, standing at a staggering six-foot-eight, has yet to suit up for an NHL game but is in line to make his debut. He owns a .919 save percentage over three games this season for the Charlotte Checkers with a 2.67 goals-against average.
He played all of last season in the AHL, earning a .903 save percentage and one shutout over 43 games.
The Panthers currently sit fourth in the Atlantic with a 5-2-2 record.
