Veteran defenceman Jeff Petry is joining the two-time Stanley Cup champions.
Petry has signed a one-year contract with the Panthers, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Tuesday.
The deal is worth the league minimum $775,000 with bonuses, according to Friedman.
The 37-year-old from Ann Arbor, Mich., spent the past two seasons close to home with the Detroit Red Wings. He recorded eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 44 games in 2024-25.
Petry was drafted in the second round, 45th overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in 2006.
He was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in March 2015 and appeared in 20 playoff games during the Habs’ miracle run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021.
Petry has played 981 career games and has 385 points (96 goals, 289 assists) in 15 seasons with the Oilers, Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins and Red Wings.
