The Florida Panthers have agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with defenceman Ludvig Jansson, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal will begin next season.
Jansson was drafted in the fourth round, 125th overall, by the Panthers in 2022.
The 21-year-old from Stockholm recorded one goal and three assists in 50 games with Lulea HF of the Swedish Hockey League this season. He also added two assists in 17 playoff games as Lulea HF captured the SHL title.
“Ludvig is an agile and talented defenceman that proved himself in Sweden’s top league this season, helping Lulea HF to a championship,” Panthers GM Barry Zito said in a release. “We are excited for him to continue to develop within our organization.”
Jansson has represented Sweden twice at the world junior championship. He won a bronze medal in 2022 and was named to the tournament's All-Star Team in 2023, leading all defencemen in the event with four goals and 10 points.
