Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk has been suspended two games for high-sticking Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick on Saturday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Sunday.
After Quick made a save late in the third period, Tkachuk, who was in close, jabbed his stick into the goaltender's mask.
As the game to an end, with Tkachuk once again stationed in front, Quick and Kings teammates attacked the Panthers forward.
A player long considered to play on the edge, Tkachuk was traded to the Panthers by the Calgary Flames in a blockbuster deal this summer.
Tkachuk has five goals, 12 assists and 18 penalty minutes in 12 games this season.
