After missing nine games with an upper-body injury, Detroit Red Wings right winger Patrick Kane is cleared to make a return on Friday night, according to head coach Todd McLellan.
The Red Wings (9-5-0) are set to host Kane's former team, the New York Rangers (6-6-2) in an Original Six matchup.
The 36-year-old Kane last suited up on Oct. 17 in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he sustained an injury in the third period.
In his five games this season, Kane notched two goals and three assists. During that span, Detroit went 4-1-0.
Kane is in his third season with Detroit. He played in 72 games last season, scoring 20 goals along with 27 assists.
In their nine games without Kane, the Red Wings went 5-4-0.
