The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without centre Evgeni Malkin for a second straight game as he misses Thursday's tilt against the Edmonton Oilers.
Malkin, who also missed Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss due to an upper-body injury, skated before the team's morning practice. Head coach Mike Sullivan said afterwards that the 38-year-old would be a game-time decision, and Malkin did not come out for warmups ahead of the matchup.
The 19-year NHL veteran is third on the team in scoring with 32 points (eight goals and 24 assists) in 41 games. He crossed the 500-goal plateau earlier this season and sits at 506 goals and 1,328 points in his career.
Pittsburgh (17-17-8) has lost four straight games and is fifth in the Metropolitan Division record. Edmonton (25-12-3), meanwhile, is second in the Pacific Division and looks to extend its four-game winning streak.
Watch the Penguins host the Oilers live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, starting at 7 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. MT.
