Jack Roslovic is not with the Winnipeg Jets to start the 2020-21 season as the forward looks for a trade to a new club.
One team that has expressed interest in acquiring the 23-year-old is the Pittsburgh Penguins, as reported Saturday by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada’s Headlines segment.
“Jack Roslovic is unsigned, he’s asked for a trade, he’s not with the Jets,” Friedman said. “The Pittsburgh Penguins have started the season 0-2 and we know [GM] Jim Rutherford is not afraid. I also believe they’re one of the teams who’s very interested. We’ll see if there’s a match.”
The Jets reportedly shopped Roslovic over the off-season, targeting a top-four, left-shot defenceman in return.
Last season, Roslovic posted career bests in goals (12), assists (17) and points (29) despite being used primarily in the Jets’ bottom-six. His agent, Claude Lemieux, claims that at least half a dozen teams have expressed interest in Roslovic, who is looking for a top-six opportunity.
