Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Kris Letang is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and will not play Monday night against the New York Rangers.
Letang was originally injured in Saturday’s game against the Rangers. He was unable to finish that contest after colliding with Rangers defenceman Adam Fox mid-way through the first period.
On Monday morning, head coach Mike Sullivan said Letang’s injury was still be evaluated.
The news is just the latest blow to a Penguins blue line that is already battered by injuries. Letang joins Brian Dumoulin (lower-body), Juuso Riikola (upper-body), Marcus Pettersson (upper-body), Mike Matheson (upper-body) and Zach Trotman (knee) on the sidelines.
Letang has three assists in nine games this season.
