Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin remains out of the lineup for Game 2 against the New York Islanders. However, the Islanders will welcome back an important player as goaltender Semyon Varlamov will return from injury and start Tuesday.

Malkin had been considered a game-time decision, alongside defenceman Brian Dumoulin, who will play in the game.

Malkin missed Game 1 of the series on Sunday but did skate during Monday's practice in a limited role.

Dumoulin missed Monday's practice for maintenance after appearing to be in pain after blocking a shot in Game 1.

Varlamov didn't dress for Sunday's Game 1 due to an undisclosed injury. Ilya Sorokin instead made his first career playoff start, earning 39 saves in the overtime win.

You can watch Game 2 between the Penguins and Islanders on Sportsnet with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
