After acquiring Yegor Chinakhov from the Columbus Blue Jackets less than 24 hours ago, the Pittsburgh Penguins have now opened up a roster spot for him.
Pittsburgh has placed defenceman Ryan Graves on waivers, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday.
This is the second time this season that the 30-year-old has been placed on the waiver wire, the first being during training camp as he was among Pittsburgh’s last group of training camp cuts.
Despite being unclaimed, Graves has spent more time in Pittsburgh than he has with their AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Graves, a Yarmouth, N.S. native, has played 10 games in the AHL this season, picking up a goal and six assists.
He was called up to Pittsburgh in early November, where he scored just one goal in 17 games.
The eight-year NHL veteran has spent time with the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils before joining the Penguins in the 2023-24 season, recording 33 goals and 86 assists for 119 career points.
