The Pittsburgh Penguins got some positive news on Friday.
Captain Sidney Crosby skated at practice for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury at the Olympics.
However, Crosby has not been cleared for contact and is not expected to play in the Penguins' weekend back-to-back, according to Josh Yohe of The Athletic.
The 38-year-old has been sidelined since Canada's quarterfinals game against Czechia, when his leg bent awkwardly on a hit from defenceman Radko Gudas. He did not return for the remainder of the tournament.
Team president and general manager Kyle Dubas told reporters that the Penguins captain had been putting in "long hours" rehabbing from the injury.
Pittsburgh ruled out Crosby for at least four weeks and placed the forward on injured reserve retroactive to Feb 25.
Crosby leads the Penguins with 27 goals and 59 points in 56 games this season.
The Penguins (31-16-13) sit second in the Metropolitan Division with 75 points and have gone 2-2-1 without Crosby since their return from the Olympic break.
