Veteran forward Corey Perry was not at Chicago Blackhawks practice on Thursday, one day after he was a healthy scratch due to an "organization decision."
“We’re going to keep that internal in the organization right now,” head coach Luke Richardson said Thursday of Perry's situation, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Perry, 38, is tied for third on the Blackhawks in scoring with nine points. He signed a one-year, $4-million contract in free agency to provide leadership to a rebuilding team.
“We just know he’s not with us,” teammate Nick Foligno said on Thursday, according to Pope. “We haven’t really gotten any details. It’s unfortunate; he’s a big part of this. So, we’ll miss him. But we haven’t really gotten any other information.”
The Blackhawks return to the ice Friday afternoon, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
