Good thing Game 7 is at home for the Winnipeg Jets.
The road just doesn't seem to agree with star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
The Hart Trophy finalist had another stretch to forget Friday in St. Louis, giving up four unanswered goals in the second period as the Blues raced in front 5-1 in Game 6 of their first-round series. The Blues eventually triumphed 5-2 to tie the series at 3-3.
Jets coach Scott Arniel had Eric Comrie replace Hellebuyck at the start of the third. The starter didn't finish any of the three road games this series.
"Tonight was not about Connor. Tonight, we imploded in front of him." Arniel said.
"Now, it's a one-game showdown. It's our goalie against their goalie ... it's our best players against their best players, it's our grinders going against theirs. It's speciality teams, it's D-zone coverage, it's what we do as a group. It's getting to Jet hockey here, getting back to it again. You know what, I have a lot of confidence in our group. Not just Helle, I have a lot of confidence in our group. You win one hockey game, you move on to the next round."
Friday continued a disturbing trend for Hellebuyck, who is now the third goalie in NHL history to allow four or more goals in seven consecutive road playoff games, per Sportsnet Stats.
In his previous six playoff games away from Winnipeg, the two-time Vezina Trophy winner is 0-6 with a 5.72 goals-against average and .835 save percentage.
Hellebuyck's GAA on the road this series is 7.24, while it's 2.33 at home.
The home team had won all six games of the Jets-Blues series.
Game 7 is Sunday in Winnipeg.
