Chris McFarland has acquired a player from his former team in his first move with the Nashville Predators.
The Predators have traded for forward Ross Colton from the Colorado Avalanche, the teams announced Tuesday. Goaltender prospect Isak Posch will also go to Nashville in the trade, while the Avalanche acquire goaltender prospect Magnus Chrona, a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick.
Colton, 29, has been an effective middle-of-the-lineup player in his career but was a healthy scratch for the Avalanche at multiple points in the playoffs. He had nine goals and 24 points in 73 games this season, his lowest offensive totals since his rookie season.
He is signed for one more season with a $4 million cap hit.
McFarland, Nashville's new head of hockey operations, was most recently general manager of the Avalanche.
