Nashville Predators star defenceman Roman Josi is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, the team told reporters on Sunday.
The Predators captain did not make the trip to New York for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Josi did not play after the first period in Nashville's overtime loss against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
The Swiss-born Josi leads the Predators with 59 points (18 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games this season.
The Norris Trophy winner in 2020, Josi is a four-time all-star.
His absence is a huge blow to a Predators team that entered Sunday five points behind the Jets for the final playoff spot in the West.
