One of the stars on the New York Rangers isn't ready to return quite yet.
Mike Sullivan shared that Adam Fox will not play on Monday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, and that captain J.T. Miller is not with the team right now, but the head coach "would anticipate him joining us," per Mollie Walker of New York Post Sports.
Sam Carrick skated on Monday after missing Sunday's practice with illness and he is currently a game-time decision.
Fox was injured on a hard shoulder-to-shoulder check by Lightning forward Brandon Hagel on Nov. 29. On Dec. 1, the defenceman was placed on the long-term injured reserve, ruling him out for at least 10 games. Monday will be the 14th game he has missed.
Before getting injured, Fox was having a bounce-back year for the Rangers, putting up three goals and 23 assists for 26 points in 27 games.
Miller has also missed multiple games due to an upper-body injury after taking a big hit from Flyers defenceman Nick Seeler and landing awkwardly on Dec. 20. He was listed as week-to-week and placed on injured reserve on Dec. 22.
In 35 games for the Rangers this season, the captain has 10 goals and 12 assists.
The Rangers will take on the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night. You can watch all the action on Sportsnet+.
