The New York Rangers have officially added veteran depth, agreeing to terms with forward Conor Sheary on a one-year contract.
Sheary, 33, earned the deal after spending training camp on a PTO and skated in four pre-season games with the Rangers, tallying a goal and two assists.
Sheary spent last season in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch, scoring 20 goals and 61 points in 59 games. He also saw action in five games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season.
In 593 career NHL games across 10 seasons with the Lightning, Capitals, Sabres, and Penguins, Sheary has accumulated 124 goals and 267 points. He was a key part of the back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins in 2015-16 and 2016-17, and has 23 points in 72 career playoff games.
Sheary was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Pittsburgh back in 2015.
