Another player has filed for arbitration.
Hours after Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson sent his file to the NHL, New York Rangers defenceman Braden Schneider did the same, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Sunday.
Like with Robertson, Schneider's opt-in to arbitration eliminates the possibility of him being offer-sheeted. It also sets him up to become a UFA as early as next off-season.
New York extended a qualifying offer to Schneider last week. The 24-year-old played all 82 games for the Eastern Conference-worst Rangers, recording two goals and 16 assists.
Schneider has played 368 games over five seasons in New York, accumulationg 87 points (20 g, 67 a).
