Wednesday night's fight-filled tilt between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning has resulted in some fallout.
The NHL Department of Player Safety handed out a pair of $5,000 fines, to the Rangers' Adam Fox and Alex Killorn of the Lightning, both for slashing.
Fox's fine was for slashing Tampa's Corey Perry, while Killorn was disciplined for slashing Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin.
The game, which was won 6-3 by New York, was a testy affair, featuring four fights and 70 minutes worth of penalties. Each player was penalized for slashing on the play.
The $5,000 amount is the maximum allowed under the league and players union's collective bargaining agreement. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
