The New York Rangers came to terms with an important piece of their forward core, signing centre Filip Chytil to a two-year contract.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Chytil, 21, was a restricted free agent. He had eight goals and 22 points in 42 games last season.

Chytil returns to a Rangers team on the rise, with fellow youngsters Alexis Lafreniere, Kaapo Kakko and Vitali Kravtsov and Hart Trophy finalist Artemi Panarin.
