Rangers trade Anthony Bitetto to Sharks for Nick Merkley

The New York Rangers have traded defenceman Anthony Bitetto to the San Jose Sharks for forward Nick Merkley.

Bitetto, 31, has skated in 39 AHL games with the Hartford Wolfpack this season. He has appeared in 197 NHL games with the Predators, Jets and Rangers.

Merkley, 24, has appeared in nine NHL games this season and 43 AHL games with the San Jose Barracuda. He has appeared in 41 NHL games over parts of four seasons with the Coyotes, Devils and Sharks.
