The New York Rangers have traded forward prospect Lias Andersson to the Los Angeles Kings, the teams announced Wednesday.

The Rangers received L.A.'s second-round pick (60th overall) in return, which they used to draft winger William Cuylle.

Wednesday's trade officially ends what has been a rocky relationship between the Rangers and Andersson, their seventh overall draft pick from 2017, and gives both team and player the fresh start both sides needed.

Andersson skated in 66 games with the Rangers over parts of three seasons but never really found his fit with the club, registering just nine NHL points. The young forward instead spent the majority of his time in North America with the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford, before being loaned to HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League.
