The New York Rangers will be without a pair of forwards for Thursday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on the eve of the trade deadline.
Both Vincent Trocheck and Sam Carrick are out of the lineup for roster management reasons, according to The Athletic's Peter Baugh.
In the midst of a lost season, the Rangers are set continue trading from their roster before Friday's deadline as they begin to look to the future.
New York has already dealt Artemi Panarin and Carson Soucy this season, and now appears to be positioning for its next move.
Trocheck, who told reporters on Monday that he wants to stay in the Eastern Conference if traded, could be one of the most sought-after players on the market. The veteran centre has 12 goals and 27 assists in 46 games this season for the Rangers and helped Team USA win gold at the Winter Olympics.

More information
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on Monday's episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast that Utah and Los Angeles had expressed interest in Trocheck, but were told a deal won't happen, due to the 32-year-old's no-trade clause.
Friedman added that the Wild, Red Wings and Hurricanes could be candidates for Trocheck.
Trocheck is in the fourth year of a seven-year contract that carries a $5.625-mllion cap hit.
Carrick, meanwhile, also offers a veteran presence down the middle for any interested teams. The 34-year-old is currently skating in his 10th NHL campaign and has four goals and six assists in 60 games for New York.
The right-shot centre is in the second year of a three-year deal signed in 2024. It comes with a $1-million cap hit.
